Case study
The Mercure Point Hotel (formerly the Point
Hotel)
The Mercure Point Hotel is a unique hotel in
the heart of Edinburgh. It combines a confident Victorian exterior
with a cutting edge interior and stunning views of Edinburgh Castle
from its glass fronted conference centre. It has won numerous
Scottish, European and International Architecture Awards.
Our guests are business travellers and
tourists from across the world and we have an international staff.
A strong identity for Edinburgh helps us to attract business and
recruit talent with the skills we need.
How is the Mercure Point Hotel
adopting the Edinburgh Inspiring Capital Brand?
We work closely with Edinburgh Principal
Hotels Association (EPHA) and Edinburgh Tourism
Action Group (ETAG). We believe the Brand gains in
strength when businesses come together to communicate Edinburgh
City Region’s branding and identity.
We make regular use of pop-up
stands to welcome international conference delegates.
We use Brand
images and logos in our marketing material, and have
incorporated the Brand logo into our email signatures.
We have a strong commitment to staff
development and have incorporated the Edinburgh
Inspiring Capital DVD into our training. The DVD enables staff
who are new to Edinburgh to learn about the key elements of the
city region and instils in all our staff the values of excellence
that are key to our success.
Prior to joining the Mecure Group we had
incorporated the Edinburgh Inspiring Capital colours and logo
into our signage, so it welcomed visitors to the hotel as soon as
they arrived. We also had the Edinburgh Inspiring
Capital logo and link on our website.

How will you develop your relationship
with Edinburgh Inspiring Capital in the future?
Having recently joined the Mecure Group
we are working with them to determine how best we can augment our
use of the Brand.
We believe working closely with Edinburgh
Inspiring Capital will consolidate our position as one of
Edinburgh's leading business tourism destinations.
