Christmas in Edinburgh is
truly inspirational! Edinburgh's Christmas celebrations
will be declared open to the public at the city's magical Light
Night ceremony on November 27. Light Night will see the
festive lights, Edinburgh Wheel and Carousels, Winter Wonderland,
the Traditional German and Highland Village Christmas Markets all
open simultaneously with a spectacular show and fireworks. To enjoy
the fun gather at 17.15 in East Princes Street
Gardens.
The fun continues on 14 December with the Santa Stroll.
West Princes Street Gardens will be invaded by thousands of
Santas strolling through the Inspiring Capital to raise money
for charity. This year also sees the new addition of the
festival favourite the Speigeltent entertaining us with
performances for children and adults alike!

Edinburgh's world famous Hogmanay will once again welcome over
100,000 revellers to the city to celebrate the new year in
style. The four day festival starts with the Torchilight
Procession. Starting off at the City Chambers the 25,000
strong crowd wind its way through the city centre.
Edinburgh's iconic Street Party takes place in and around
Princes Street. Groove Armada, one of Britain's biggest dance
acts, will be joined by Paolo Nutini, at the Concert in the Gardens
on 31 December for an electric mix of music, light and
fireworks. This year's Street Party starts at the earlier
time of 9pm and which will have an unrivalled laser and light show,
four live music stages live as well as a new dance music stage in
the West End with DJ sets from Hot Chip and Belle and
Sebastian.
Other events include the Glayva Ceilidh in the
Gardens; The Dancin’, a brand new event at the Grassmarket; Boogie
Wonderland for some DISCO at the Mound Precinct on 31 December; and
Feet First, the brand new outdoor extravaganza held on 1 January
2009.
