Visionary New Tourist Information Centre at Edinburgh
Airport
6th June 2006
International arrivals at Edinburgh Airport are now greeted by a
state of the art new Tourist Information Centre featuring the
Edinburgh Inspiring Capital Brand.
BAA Edinburgh and VisitScotland developed the new information
centre to meet the needs of the growing number of airport
passengers and to provide a service that will maximise the economic
impact of visitors to Edinburgh and Lothians.
The information centre includes a retail unit where visitors can
buy maps, tickets and souvenirs, an accommodation booking service
and leaflet distribution points. An information pod with computer
terminals has also been situated just outside the main centre to
provide visitors with 24-hour access to tourist and airport
information.
Richard Jeffrey, Managing Director of Edinburgh Airport and
Chair of the Edinburgh Tourism Action Group, said, "The potential
to attract international visitors to Edinburgh and to has never
been greater and as a gateway to our city and our country,
Edinburgh Airport is delighted to see the new tourist information
centre ready and open for business."
The Tourist Information Centre has been remodelled and its sleek
new look incorporates Edinburgh Inspiring Capital colours, images
and logo.
Ailsa Falconer, Edinburgh Inspiring Capital Brand Manager,
said, “This is the first permanent display of the Edinburgh
Inspiring Capital brand at the key international gateway to and the
Edinburgh City Region. The striking combination of the images and
colours are an eye-catching and welcoming introduction to the
city.”
