Festival Cow Walks Tall in the Cow Parade
12th June 2006
Edinburgh Inspiring Capital has teamed up with the Edinburgh
College of Art to produce the Festival Cow for CowParade Edinburgh.
Students were asked to submit a brief to Edinburgh Inspiring
Capital. The winning entry is the creation of 4th year Graphic
Design students Jenna Murray and Camilla Storheill. The Festival
Cow reflects Edinburgh’s fun and vibrant arts scene. The design
incorporates Brand colours and is inspired by fun and fireworks,
but its most striking features is that the cow stands on
stilts!
Ailsa Falconer, Brand Manager, said, “Creativity and innovation
are an important part of Edinburgh Inspiring Capital’s values. This
has been a great opportunity for us to work with new talent and for
students at Edinburgh College of Arts to learn about the
Brand.”
The Festival Cow is currently grazing outside City Chambers on
the Royal Mile. There are cows in streets, parks and buildings
across the city region. To find their location, collect or download
a Trail Map.
Each cow is a unique work of art created by artists of all ages.
The Souvenir Guide, containing photographs of all the cows, feature
articles about cows in Scotland, the Community projects, interviews
with artists and much, much more, are now on sale in bookshops and
other outlets throughout Edinburgh.
CowParade Edinburgh runs until 23 July. At the end of the
CowParade, the cows will be auctioned for charity.
