Inspiring Capital is the leading hotbed for UK's
Entrepreneurs
3rd August 2006
A new report has revealed that Scotland is the UK’s most
entrepreneurial region. The report has revealed that the
country has more companies backed by venture capital per head of
population than London.
The results are based on the number of venture-backed companies
per 1 million of the population. Scotland has 54
venture-backed companies to London’s 53 - leading to Scotland
earning the title of the UK’s most entrepreneurial
region.
Doug Richard of Library House, the private research group
commissioned by UBS Wealth Management to carry out the research
said:
“We have long known that Scotland is a hotbed of innovation,
generating world-class companies. However, with the
hard evidence, we can now confirm that Scotland is the UK’s most
entrepreneurial region.”
The study shows that Edinburgh ranks alongside Cambridge, Oxford
and London as the country’s leading centres of business
innovation.
