Edinburgh Inspiring Capital Brand appears throughout the
city
2nd September 2005
After the highly successful launch of the Edinburgh City Region
Brand in May, the vibrant and inspiring Edinburgh Brand images and
colours have started to appear in and around the city and around
the globe.
The G8 Summit was held from 6 to 8 July with up to 1,500
delegates and 3,000 media flocking to Scotland. Although the
Summit was held at Gleneagles, a considerable worldwide focus was
on Edinburgh.
Having Edinburgh placed so prominently on the world stage was a
great springboard for the new Brand to be seen in action.
Banners appeared in the heart of the city - along Princes Street
and the Royal Mile - and are still fluttering in the summer
sunshine.
The Live 8 concert at Murrayfield Stadium on 6 July had a 60,000
audience and extensive press and television coverage. It gave
the perfect opportunity to showcase the Brand on enormous 40ft
banners around the Stadium.
Four of the city's black taxis have been fully liveried in the
bright, Brand colours of red, purple, blue and orange. The
taxis also sport interesting facts and figures about
Edinburgh-inspired literature, architecture, inventions and science
achievements. They will continue to zip around the capital
spreading the word to businesses, residents and visitors.
A huge Brand poster has been hanging on the landmark glass
frontage of the Omni Centre at Greenside Place. This was
originally hung to support the Edinburgh Marathon, but has stayed
in place to promote 'always inspiring' Edinburgh.
Edinburgh has an excellent record in hosting and being involved
with high profile events and the city's assured handling of the
Make Poverty History march, the Live 8 concert and assorted street
'protests' have been hugely impressive at a time when the world's
eye was upon Scotland's Inspiring Capital.
This was an important time for the Brand Team and we are proud
of our efforts to showcase the Brand to a wide variety of people
and organisations.
