Why a brand?

We are ambitious for the Edinburgh City Region. We support the City of Edinburgh Council’s City Vision that by 2015 we will be the most successful and sustainable city region in Northern Europe.

To achieve this, we need to get the message out about all that the Edinburgh City Region has to offer.

Brands shape perceptions and consumers are increasingly brand literate. By drawing upon key theories from destination marketing and branding experts, we have created a Brand that will help Edinburgh to differentiate itself in an increasingly crowded market.

The Brand raises the international profile of Scotland’s capital and the city region by highlighting its unique qualities to business, investors, visitors and talent. It helps to align and focus the marketing strategies of partners across the city region and deliver a united image and messages.

In order to compete effectively every place needs to be known for something. Having a brand means knowing exactly what those qualities and assets are.
