Destination Edinburgh Marketing Alliance(DEMA)

September 2008 update

The first meeting of the DEMA Project Board chaired by Dave Anderson, Director of City Development took place on 12 August 2008.  The Council has also seconded a Project Director, Kenneth Wardrop to take the project forward to a launch on 1 April 2009.  The Councils lead role and support for the Alliance represents the Council’s commitment to continued investment in city promotion and raising the City’s profile.

Building on the work of the Promoting Edinburgh as a Destination Task Group, and the report prepared by the Communication Group, the first task in hand is to produce by the autumn a Destination Promotion Strategy for the City and covering live, invest, visit and study.  This strategy will then inform the best structure to realise the projects vision for “Edinburgh to be a must visit, vibrant, authentic, inspiring destination – a bold city of the future.”

The Edinburgh Inspiring Capital Brand's corporate website and e-zine will be utilised by the Alliance as a vehicle to communicate and engage with key stakeholders, and the Project Director is happy to hear your views on the alliance and city promotion.  Email kenneth.wardrop@edinburgh.gov.uk
