Graham Birse, Deputy Chief Executive of Edinburgh Chamber

Graham Birse is a communications, strategy and
policy director, with a track record of transforming the reputation
and management of organisations. He is experienced in
corporate communications, strategy development, brand and
reputation management at the highest level. He is experienced
in the private and public sectors.
Graham manages an organisation with 55 staff
and a turnover of £4 million, including specific responsibility for
strategy, policy, membership, marketing, corporate communications,
sales, media and sponsorship.
Professional achievements include winning the
‘Level the Playing Field’ campaign to equalise business rates north
and south of the border by lobbying effectively MSPs, Ministers and
the media. Positioning Edinburgh Chamber as ‘the voice of
business’ in the local and national media. Establishing a new
corporate sponsorship package, ‘Partners in Enterprise’, with
demonstrable results after only one month in post.
Re-locating the Chamber of Commerce and
recruiting technology partners to support investment in new
hardware, software and business processes for the Chamber.
Increasing ECC membership by almost a quarter, from 1325 in
2005 to 1800 in 2007.
