Councillor Tom Buchanan, Convenor of the Economic Development
Committee
Tom Buchanan was elected to the City of Edinburgh Council in
2007, representing the Liberton/Gilmerton Ward as an SNP
Councillor. Within the Liberal Democrat/SNP coalition
administration he serves as Convenor of the Economic Development
Committee. He also sits on the Finance and Resources Committee and
the Transport, Infrastructure and Environment Committee.
Tom has a background in both private and public sector economic
development issues and has worked on major European structural fund
programmes.
A Director of the EDI Group Ltd, Tom also sits on the Boards of
CEC Holdings Ltd, Edinburgh Convention Bureau Ltd, SEStran,
Transport Edinburgh Limited and the Edinburgh International
Conference Centre. In addition, he is Chair of the Capital City
Partnership and Waterfront Edinburgh Ltd. Until reorganisation
following the Scottish Government’s Enterprise Network Review, Tom
was also a non-Executive Director of Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh
& Lothian.
